Pilobolus Returns to Dartmouth

Pilobolus returned to their roots at Dartmouth College to celebrate the grand opening of the newly designed Hopkins Center for Performing Arts. Known as The Hop, the original building was the site of the first performances by the company, which was founded by Dartmouth students in 1971.

Pilobolus Executive Director/Co-Artistic Director Renée Jaworski and Artistic Director Matt Kent joined the dancers for a series of creative and collaborative experiences throughout the Dartmouth Arts Weekend Celebration that included:

  • Masterclasses for all bodies, including the Connecting with Balance workshop for older movers and Pilobolus Alphabet Dance Workshop for families

  • An immersive, site-specific Pilobolus performance performed throughout the building

  • A collaboration with Dartmouth Dance Ensemble (DDE) students for their own student performance, drawing on some of Pilobolus’s classic and recent works

Congratulations to Dartmouth College on its beautifully revitalized space. We look forward to visiting again!
