What Makes Pilobolus Continuum Unique?

Participants in this unique class will discover how creativity, collaboration, and communication can lead to deeper self-awareness and meaningful connections. By working with participants across different generations, attendees will gain social connections and the capacity for cultural illumination beyond typical peer groups.

  • Explores the Art of Creative Collaboration
Participants learn to form connections, build trust through weight sharing, and co-create material—core tenets of the Pilobolus method that apply to real-world settings.

  • Bridges Generations Through Movement
Teens and adults work side-by-side, discovering the power of movement as a shared language across age and background.

  • Strengthens Social-Emotional Intelligence
Through movement-based problem-solving and group improvisation, participants cultivate empathy, trust, communication, and self-awareness.

  • Develops Confidence Through Risk and Play
Physical challenges and creative tasks help participants embrace risk, expand comfort zones, and find strength in vulnerability.

  • Reignites Creativity
Pilobolus Continuum gives participants tools to spark original ideas, experiment with form, and express themselves in new ways.

  • Improves Body Awareness and Physical Literacy
Learn how to move with intention, respond to others, and listen with your whole body. Develop strength, coordination, and fluidity.

Pilobolus Continuum was piloted as the “Pilobolus Intergenerational Workshop” at Skidmore College. Discover how this unique program was developed as part of a broader educational initiative with our partner organization, SPAC.

The Pilobolus Advantage

Pilobolus Teaching Artists are experts in movement.

Their performance training has provided them with keen body awareness and a unique understanding of how movement inspires joy in themselves and others.

Additionally, our dancers rely on one another to execute everything from emotional storytelling to physically demanding lifts. As teaching artists, this translates to the ability to impart lessons of respect, consent, body positivity, and acceptance through a uniquely qualified lens.

Designed for Movers of All Backgrounds

Whether you’re a trained dancer, an athlete, or simply movement-curious, Pilobolus Continuum welcomes everyone ages 13 and up to explore and grow.  This class is highly active and participant-driven—but no dance training is required. Everyone contributes to the creative process.
