Aaliyah Da’Shana Hudson
Aaliyah, a native of Jefferson County, was raised in the small, closely-knit community of Fayette, MS. During her early teen years, Hip Hop, Cheerleading, and Drum Majoring were her only dance background. Aaliyah desired to increase her dance agility in other areas. Therefore, she began training immensely in ballet, modern, improvisation, and choreography during her eleventh and twelfth-grade years at the Mississippi School of the Arts. After graduating from high school, Aaliyah attended Belhaven University where she received a Bachelor in Arts and began cultivating “The Hudson Technique.” The Hudson Technique is a dance style that captures and revolves around learning to create a personal movement language and technique. It was designed to unearth and discover her choreographic aesthetic and style. As a result of Hudson, students discover their body and soul's way of moving. Post-college, Aaliyah moved to Los Angeles and trained at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy to further develop her dancing and teaching methods. She is also featured in Debbie Allen’s 2021-2022 Hot Chocolate Nutcracker. As an upcoming entrepreneur, for the past ten years, Aaliyah has spearheaded dance classes and events for both youth and adults ranging from 5-60 years of age. Aaliyah believes, where the mind goes, the body follows. Because of this, she is excited to witness each dancer become who they desire and imagine themselves to be.
